Privacy Policy
Lightsidian is a personal notes app. This policy explains what data the app uses, why, where it is stored, and how you can delete it. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the app. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
Data we collect
- Google account (only if you sign in): your name, email address and profile photo. Used only to show that you are signed in and to link your data to your account.
- Your notes and folders: the content of your notes, their titles, tags, folders and any attachments (photos, voice notes) you add.
- Google Calendar (optional): if you tap “Sync calendar”, we request read-only access to your calendar events to display them inside your daily notes. We never create, change or delete your events.
- The app does not collect location, contacts, advertising identifiers, or usage-tracking analytics.
How your notes are stored
- Without an account: your notes stay only on your device.
- When signed in: your notes and folders are also stored in Google Firebase (Realtime Database, European region) in a private area tied to your account, readable only by you. This is what lets your notes sync across your devices.
- Sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication (Google). The Google Calendar access token is used only during a sync and is not stored on any server.
How we use the data
Solely to operate the app: to show your profile, to sync your notes across your devices, and — only if you ask — to import your calendar events. We do not share your notes with third parties, do not sell any data, and do not use it for advertising or profiling.
Third-party services
The app relies on Google services to function: Firebase Authentication and Firebase Realtime Database (Google Cloud) for sign-in and note sync, and the Google Calendar API (read-only, optional). Your use of these is also subject to Google’s Privacy Policy.
Data retention & deletion
- You can use the app entirely without an account, keeping all data on your device.
- You can sign out at any time in Settings.
- Deleting a note removes it from your device and, if you are signed in, from the cloud (a short-lived “trash” tombstone is kept only so the deletion propagates to your other devices, then it is purged automatically).
- To erase all of your cloud data, sign in and delete your notes, or email us to request full deletion of your account data. We will action deletion requests within 30 days.
Security
Data in transit is encrypted over HTTPS. Cloud access is restricted to your authenticated account by Firebase security rules. Lightsidian is an independent prototype app — please keep an additional copy of anything important.
Children
Lightsidian is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
We may update this policy; the “Last updated” date above will change accordingly. Material changes will be reflected in the app.
